Evangelical Formosan church of Cerritos is currently seeking to hire a Part-time teacher for our church children’s Ministry.

Our Vision on Children ministry:

By teaching, training, and discipling children in the Christian faith during children’s ministry Friday evening and Sunday morning programs to help children to grow in the grace of Christ through learning the sound doctrine and biblical teachings that they can be built to the Christ-like Christians to face the challenges from this world in the future.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• Have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and must demonstrate the reality of that relationship through their life and testimony.
• Have a solid faith and clear understanding of the sound doctrine inherited from the Reformation.
• A desire to serve the church
• Have relevant training and experience in a field such as children’s ministry, childhood education or Christian education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons to students at our Sunday morning children’s ministry which includes the children’s worship (8:30am-10:45am) and Sunday school class (11:00am-12:00am).
• Part-time, 6 hours weekly for teaching and preparation
• Availability on Friday evenings (8:00pm-9:30pm) and Sunday mornings (8:30pm-12:00pm) required.

EFC Irvine is a Christian church based in Irvine, California, part of the EFC general assembly which consists of 140 churches across 4 continents and 10 countries. Our church, established in 1988, has 5 congregations – Taiwanese, Mandarin, English, 1.5-generation, and Children’s Ministry, with approximately 500 members.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• Job Title: Children’s Ministry Pastor
• Job Type: Full Time

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leadership and Oversight: Oversee and manage the three Children’s Ministry departments (nursery, early childhood, and elementary) with the Children’s Ministry elder, ensuring all programs (Sunday Service, Sunday School, Worship, etc.) and activities align with the church’s vision.
• Team Development & Spiritual Support: Lead, mentor, and recruit (if necessary) the department directors and volunteers, providing spiritual guidance, training, and support to ensure effective teaching and care for the children.
• Sunday Services: Prepare and deliver engaging, age-appropriate sermons and lessons during Sunday services (emphasis in the elementary department, but occasionally in early childhood). Ensure that the curriculum is biblically sound and relevant for the different age groups. Provide a warm, friendly, and learning environment for children. Support the three Children’s Ministry departments accordingly.
• Parent & Child Relationships: Build strong, meaningful relationships with the children and their parents, serving as a resource for their spiritual growth and development.
• New Program Initiation: Launch and lead a new Friday night kids program, providing fun, faith-building activities for children in a safe and supportive environment.
• Administrative Duties: Coordinate elementary ministry speakers and volunteers with the core team, provide general Children’s Ministry spiritual and safety guidelines. Plan and coordinate ministry activities, curriculum, and special events (e.g., Vacation Bible School, holiday programs) with the directors, core team members, and the Children’s Ministry elder. Participate in the Children’s Ministry annual budget estimation process.
• Others: Visit children and their families to pray and care for them. Attend weekly church staff meetings, monthly Children’s Ministry prayer meetings, monthly church prayer meetings, elder & deacon board meetings (bi-monthly).

QUALIFICATION

• Education background (M. Div or MA) in accredited and church-approved seminary with knowledge in biblical interpretation, child development in Christian environments, active and growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ
• A heart for children’s spiritual development and a desire to foster a thriving, Christ-centered children’s ministry.
• Previous experience (3+ years highly preferred) in children’s ministry or a related field.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and church staff.
• Energetic, warm, and excited to share the love of Jesus with children and their families
• Physically and mentally capable of sustained activities with children
• Bilingual in English and Chinese (conversational)
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
