Dear pastors and co-workers of the EFC family,
Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for your help, support, and prayers for the General Assembly and our office throughout this past year.
At this time, we would like to ask for your urgent prayers!
On December 8th, Secretary General Pastor Allen Hu made the trip to Taiwan to visit the EFC churches there and to fellowship with the pastors and the coworkers, the trip was scheduled to be three weeks. However, on December 16th, due to illness symptoms not improving, Pastor Hu visited the emergency room at Mackay Memorial Hospital, he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and was immediately admitted on doctor’s order. Currently he is receiving treatments in the intensive care unit (ICU). We want to thank Director Chi-Chin Liao of the Taiwan region, Senior Pastor Nicole Chen of EFC Taipei, and Dr. Yung-Wei Hsu of EFC Taipei for their prompt visit upon receiving the news.
Here is an update of the Secretary General’s condition as of December 19th:
- Pastor Hu is conscious, and his physical conditions have improved, he was able to conduct a 5-minute video chat with his family in the U.S.
- Pastor Hu remains in the ICU and is receiving sedative medication to assist with sleep
- The doctors are awaiting results from three bacteria cultures to decide the treatment plan
Mrs. Hu will be flying to Taiwan on Sunday, December 22, to be with the Secretary General. The plan is to return to the U.S. mid-January.
We ask for your urgent prayers for the Secretary General Pastor Allen Hu, may the healing grace and mercy of our Lord be upon Pastor Hu and to restore his health completely. Please also pray for Mrs. Hu’s travel to Taiwan, as she is also recovering of a cold. Moreover, please pray for Pastor Hu’s two children Isabella and Isaac, as they remain here in the U.S.
May the Lord hear the prayers of the saints as we offer up our most sincere gratitude!
