40 DAYS OF PRAYER (2021)

FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

Day 03 – The Calling of God

During the pandemic, it seems like everyone is asking “Why?”

The serpent asked the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.” (Genesis 3:1-4)

The spreading of the virus is severe, many scientists and doctors offer warnings to the public: Wear masks, wash hands, keep social distances. Some people refuse to believe, refuse to listen, and regardless the situation, they carried on life as is. When people first got infected with the virus, many were hospitalized, but passed away due to the lack of effective medication. It is unfortunate, because of unbelief, many names got added to the obituary section on the papers. Is this all there is to life?

Jesus once said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.” (Luke 5:31) And Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. (Luke 6:17-18)

In the midst of the pandemic, not only do we need preventive measures, vaccines, and medications, more importantly, we need salvation from Jesus. He was crucified, buried, and resurrected on the third day. His sacrifice fulfilled God’s wondrous plan of redemption and offers eternal hope. Every year when Easter comes around, it reminds us of salvation provided by Christ.

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) Do you believe it? Eternal life is far more important than the earthly life right now! Do you want to have eternal life? Come join various church gatherings, fellowships, Bible studies, or cell groups, and learn about Lord Jesus. If you are a believer, are you living out the eternal value in your life? God is calling you to participate in His ministry. Perhaps you say, “I don’t have the gifting nor abilities,” but what God desires is your heart and your availability. As long as your are willing, come and witness God’s mighty power at work.

Lastly, wishing everyone to live in the reality of the Lord, trust without fear, be courageous in living every moment before the presence of the Lord. May we have wisdom like Moses, to call upon the God who created the heaven and the earth, “Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.” (Psalm 90:14) I playfully as God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, to pour down more healing, mercy, and blessings upon us all. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all from now till everlasting. (2 Corinthians 13:14)

Amen!
